Building Healthy Families - Attention parents, grandparents and pew buddies! Our sanctuaries and worship spaces are rich in design and decor that point us to Jesus. This is helpful to children and adults alike, engaging multiple senses to tell the story of our place in God’s family and our salvation. Next time you find yourself near a little one who is squirmy or unsettled, take notice of the details around you. Maybe you engage him or her to spot and count the crosses throughout the room, trace the embossed lettering or symbols on a Bible or hymnal with your finger, or locate and study a piece of art (painting, stained glass, banner, etc.). This practice of grounding settles the nervous system and can help to focus us the reason we are in worship - to receive God’s gifts! Lutheran Family Service www.LutheranFamilyService.org

Building Healthy Families: Humility is hard to come by during a difficult conversation - especially when you’re sure you are right and your husband (or wife, or child, or parent, or co-worker, or pastor…) is wrong. Here are three simple but powerful words to remember that will help when conflict comes in any relationship: I am sorry. “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1 Lutheran Family Service  www.LutheranFamilyService.org

Building Healthy Families: Adoption and Christianity go together like apple pie and ice cream! We just can’t tell the story of God’s love for humankind without talking about adoption. Where do we see adoption in the Bible? Moses was adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter, Bithiah. Samuel was adopted by Eli. Mordecai adopted Esther. Joseph adopted Jesus. God adopted us! Adoption is clearly part of God’s plan. He uses adoption to save lives here on earth and as a pathway into His eternal family. Christian adoptions bring children into God’s kingdom, and more than 114,000 children are now waiting for a family through adoption in the U.S. What can you and your congregation do to encourage and support Christian adoption? Stewardship Corner - God calls us to be His stewards.  He not only calls us, but He equips us to be faithful stewards.  In our stewardship journey, God transforms us from owners to stewards, from kingdom building to submission, from bondage to freedom, and from obligation to joyful obedience.  In our journey as God’s stewards, we seek to understand the heart and nature of God in Whose image we have been created.  Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we understand our identity and role as God’ stewards, and we become aware of our purpose.  May God help us all hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23).
