Wednesday Lenten Service will be held here at St. John’s on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Catechesis class will meet after.
FOR US is our theme for Lent this year. “For Us” is not simply a pithy line to use because it’s easy to repeat. It’s a confession of who God is and what He brings in giving us His Son. It helps us understand why God would send His Son to die for us. This phrase also captures much of the Reformation’s theological emphasis—Luther went from searching for a righteous God and finding only stern rebuke to seeing God in the form of a little baby and as the one who became one of us for us so that we might become like Him.
Lenten Devotional Booklets are now available on the back table.
Schedules for the Lenten Season are also on the back table with dates and times available for St. John’s and Trinity!!
Thank You Very Much to all who attended, provided food, and worked at our Sunday, 2/15, “Faith Fun & Fellowship Day”! Thank you Pastor Nelson for your devotions. We served 44 people a great soup dinner with tasty desserts. Friends of all ages enjoyed fellowship that included conversation, games and activities. We look forward to more in the future!
Funeral Services for Rev. Henry Friedrich will be held on March 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Friedrich filled in as a vacancy Pastor several times here at St. John’s after he had retired.
Notice to All - Make sure if you are one of the last people out of the church, to check the whole church to see if all the lights have been shut off!! We have had some problems with this happening! Also, be sure that doors are locked! -Trustees

Building Healthy Families: Wives, what do you think of your husband’s gifts? (No, not the ones he gave you for your last birthday or Christmas!) What are his talents? What does he love to do? What are his spiritual gifts? What are his accomplishments? Aspirations? Hopes and dreams? Recognize them, name them, and communicate your respect for them…to him and to others. Communicating authentic respect is one way to build a great relationship. Looking for more ways to strengthen or repair your marriage? Check out the blog posts on the LFS website and call us to schedule time to meet with a marriage counselor in person or virtually. We’re here to help! Stewardship Corner - Jesus said, “Everyone then who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24). Jesus tells us that true wisdom is not just hearing His teachings but actively applying them. That Rock is Christ, Who by His blood has given us salvation; by the Holy Spirit we live obedient lives of service, standing on that Rock. Earthquakes, floods, and winds do not move or harm that house; life’s problems and temptations will not harm the believer who holds to the Rock, our Lord Jesus Christ. Trusting in God’s strength, we respond to God’s Word by doing His will. God’s will becomes our will.
