Building Healthy Families:   With apologies to the 1970’s movie Love Story, love means you do occasionally have to say you’re sorry! Be willing to accept your own mistakes, recognize and admit it when you have hurt someone, and apologize. Your children will learn how to do this in their own lives (or not) by watching the example you set. Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.” (James 5:16).    Lutheran Family Service

Stewardship Corner - Lent is a contemplative forty-day period of time in the Church Year set aside for the Christian to reflect on his/her sin and unworthiness before the Lord and then to wonder at the grace of God Who gave His only begotten Son to die to atone for that sin and place upon us His righteousness that we might, through His grace, be made worthy.  Stewardship is our response to God’s amazing and abundant grace showered upon us through Jesus.  May we be prompted to live lives worthy of the sacrifices that both God and Jesus made for all people.  Let us declare the praises of Him, “who called [us] out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9).

Building Healthy Families -  A wise person once reminded a friend: Don’t worry about other peoples’ opinions of you. God never told you to impress people; only to love them. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.” (1 John 2:10) Who needs your love this week? Choose to love him, love her, and abide in the light!    Lutheran Family Service

Stewardship Corner - If we were asked to identify with a person in Scripture who best exemplified a life of service, some of us would possibly select the Apostle Paul.  Out of love from Jesus and His love for Jesus, Paul lived a life of service to Him.  Serving Jesus was the passion of his life.  In Philippians 3:8, he wrote, “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.  For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in Him.”  With zeal, Paul made God’s purpose his purpose.  In the same way that God empowered Paul to be a servant, He enables us to live lives of service.  Receiving God’s love, we can respond with joy in service to Him by serving others

New Members Wanted – Burt Lions Club would like to warmly welcome interested men and women to come visit our local club. We are reaching out to grow membership numbers.  We support State and Local projects. Our aim is to “serve” others. Club meetings are held the 3rd Monday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. with a meal at the Burt Community Center. Contact Dennis Heerdt 924-3226 or Joe Heinen 924-3379.
