A Special Thank You! - We wish to thank all of our St. John’s family for the many prayers and kindnesses shown throughout the many challenges our family has and continues to endure. Many prayers have been offered by strangers and people of numerous faiths. All held dearly and with much appreciation!  Prayer is the best medicine and the most one could ask for. Many many thank yous to Pastor Russ for his many visits, devotions, prayers and communion! He does a wonderful JOB and we are very blessed to be served by him during this vacancy. Building Healthy Families - In addition to many other good reasons to pray, we know that praying with your spouse helps your marriage by promoting unity and increasing intimacy. It also correctly affirms mutual humility before God as leader in your relationship and home. If you haven’t done so recently, gently take your partner’s hand at the dinner table and offer a time of prayer. Enjoy the blessings that follow.    Lutheran Family Service

Building Healthy Families:  Jesus said, “Your faith has made you well.” Lutheran Family Service counselors are privileged to witness the transformation of lives as God extends “grace by faith” to people at the point of their greatest need. Do you know someone who is struggling and in need of help? Give them the number for your nearest LFS counseling office. Your support of this work which allows many to be served regardless of their ability to pay is needed and always appreciated!   Lutheran Family Service

Blessing of the Quilts will be held on today (Sunday, June 11th) at 3 p.m. at the historic Blakjer Lutheran Church in Lone Rock. We will have 60 quilts on display prior to the service. Stewardship Corner - In speaking to His disciples, Jesus asked them this question, “But who do you say that I am?”  How would you respond to that question?  This is a question we all need to answer.  Peter did not need to listen to what others had to say as to who Jesus was.  He told Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”  Jesus told him, “Blessed are you [Peter]!  For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father Who is in heaven” (Matthew 16:15-17).   This understanding was given to Peter and to us by revelation from the Holy Spirit.  To acknowledge Jesus as Son of God does not come from our human intellect.  What Peter believed was given to him by grace.  What he believed transformed his life.  The same is true of us.  Knowing God can’t help but change us and make us more like Jesus.

Building Healthy Families:  Have you noticed that a lot of people around you are getting older, even if you don’t seem to be? You’re right! We are living longer than ever before. By 2050 the number of people in the United States over 65 will more than double to 70 million people. Nearly 1 in 5 Americans will fit this category, up from 1 in 100 in 1900. Lutheran Family Service is working to support those in the role of caregiver for a spouse or elderly family member as they care for their loved one at home. If you have an interest in helping or supporting this work, please call your closest LFS office.  Lutheran Family Service
