Stewardship Corner - God showed us His love and grace by what He was willing to give us.  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).  God’s grace is given to us without any merit on our part.  Grace is not something we’ve earned.  It is a free gift to us, but it comes at a high cost to our Lord.  Grace has been defined as “God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense.”  By grace, we believe that the tremendous love Christ poured out on the cross is available for us!  The Holy Spirit opens our eyes and minds so we can see Who God is and what He does for us.

Building Healthy Families  - Here are bold and true words for you to remember today or any day when you are worried or overwhelmed with life’s challenges and temptations: “Know ye then - sin, death, devil, and everything that assails me - that you are missing the mark. I am not afraid of you. For Christ, my dear Lord, has presented to me that triumph and victory of His by which you were laid low. And from this very gift of His I derive my name and am called a Christian. There is no other reason. My sin and death hung about His neck on Good Friday, but on the day of Easter they had completely disappeared. This victory He has bestowed on me. This is why I do not worry about you.” (from Luther’s Easter Sermon, 1530) A blessed and happy celebration of Easter to you and your family from the Board of Directors and staff of Lutheran Family Service! Building Healthy Families  - As we begin perhaps the most important days of the church year, remember that Holy Week can be a confusing time for young children. Take them with you to all the special services this week but don’t assume they know what you know. They may wonder, “What does Maundy mean?” “Why does everyone at church seem so sad and quiet?” Read John 18-19 aloud with them. As you reflect on feelings of fear and sadness at Jesus’ brutal treatment, crucifixion, and death, share His message of hope and promise from John 14:1-3. Remind them (and yourself!) that while Good Friday is dark and scary, it’s not the end - only the beginning of the story. Remind them we’re Easter people and Resurrection Sunday is coming! www.LutheranFamilyService.org

Building Healthy Families: Spring - a season of renewal and new life - officially arrives on Tuesday, March 19 at 10:06 pm! Though you can’t dig in the garden quite yet, take some time this week to take your family (or just yourself!) to your local greenhouse where you can smell, see, touch, feel and experience the new life all around you. As you do, be mindful of the new life that stirs within you and of Paul’s inspired words written for you in Romans 6: “You were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, you too may live a new life.” (Pssst…. Easter is coming soon!) Lutheran Family Service www.LutheranFamilyService.org
