Building Healthy Families: More Than Just Saying “Thank You!”

Veterans Day provides an opportunity to thank the men and women who have served our country. But for some veterans, the challenges of military service don't end when they return home. Depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and adjusting to civilian life can affect veterans and their families long after military service ends. This Veterans Day, let's do more than simply say “thank you.” Let's show our appreciation! Do you know a veteran in your congregation, neighborhood, or community? Invite your family to think of a special way to show thanks. Write a note, share a homemade treat, invite them for coffee, or simply take time to listen to their stories—if they'd like to share. Show a veteran this week that their service is not forgotten, their sacrifices are appreciated, and they are valued and loved. Lutheran Family Service | www.LutheranFamilyService.org
