Building Healthy Families:  Building Healthy Families: Parents and grandparents, looking for something to do with your children or grandchildren during these waning days of summer? Take them to the cemetery with you on a mission to find your ancestors’ grave sites. Bring along old family photos to match and give a face to the names on the tombstones. This could be a fun adventure for them and you, as well as a unique opportunity for you to share your faith and stories of the faith of your family in previous generations. You shall teach [God’s commandments] diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Deuteronomy 6:7 Lutheran Family Service  www.LutheranFamilyService.org

Stewardship Corner:  Our lives as Christian stewards are made possible by the work of the Holy Spirit.  On our own initiative, it is impossible to become faithful stewards.  In the same way that the Apostle Paul said that no one can declare “’Jesus is Lord’ except in the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:3), neither are we able to declare ourselves God’s stewards apart from God’s grace.  Filled with the Holy Spirit, our lives take on a new direction.  The Holy Spirit plants faith in our hearts.  Through faith, we express our gratitude for God’s love and grace through our stewardship.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, our lives are devoted to doing God’s will and pleasing Him with how we use our time, talents, and money.

Pledge to Pray for Our Troops - On the back table are cards for you to pick up and pray each day Psalm 91 for all Our troops and Our Nation.  This is a chance to Pray with other Christians as we Band together to remember those who are serving. Take a couple and pass them on to others!!

What an immense blessing those funds will be and I am so grateful to all who made and/or donated quilts, helped at the auction, and the bidders and buyers!

Building Healthy Families:  Whether it’s your growing awareness of the number of hours in your day tinged with anxiety or depression, or a gnawing feeling in your gut about the distance you’re feeling from your spouse, know that you don’t have to wait for a crisis to seek support. It’s often easier to prevent a problem from growing worse than to recover from one in full bloom. Pay attention to your mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational health. Talk to your pastor, a trusted Christian friend, or an LFS counselor, and remember (as the tee shirt says): It’s okay to have Jesus and a therapist, too! Trinity - Summer Worship Schedule: During the summer months there will only be one Sunday service at 9:00 a.m. The Saturday service will continue at 5:00 p.m. except for holiday or wedding weekends.

Stewardship Corner

God is the one Who provides us with everything we have.  He is the rightful owner, and we are stewards.  As Spirit-filled stewards, we recognize God as the owner of all things—including our very lives.  This means that the choices concerning our money, possessions, time, family, relationships, and tasks are spiritual decisions lived in response to our relationship to God.  The more we get to know God, Who owns all things, the better we can manage our lives according to His will.  Our knowledge of Him and our relationship with Him is developed by reading and studying His Word and receiving His Sacraments.  Through Word and Sacraments, the Holy Spirit does His work of sanctification, changing us into the likeness of our Savior.

Pledge to Pray for Our Troops - On the back table are cards for you to pick up and pray each day Psalm 91 for all Our troops and Our Nation.  This is a chance to Pray with other Christians as we Band together to remember those who are serving. Take a couple and pass them on to others!!

Building Healthy Families:  It’s been said that children may not always be good at listening to adults, but they never fail to imitate them. Consider this: the words you speak are less important than the everyday life you lead. Your children (and grandchildren) are constantly learning about life by watching you. What an immense responsibility. What an incredible privilege! Pray that God will help you to be the kind of adult you want your child (or grandchild) to become. Find inspiration from the One whose love, humility, obedience, honesty, and faithfulness we’re encouraged to imitate. Building Healthy Families:  Maybe you are experiencing some of the greatest joys of your life right now, or perhaps you feel you are in the lowest of valleys. God knows what you’re experiencing. In fact, He has known of your highs and lows all along. Take a moment to recall one of the best times in your life and one of the most difficult. God was there. Both times. He promises to always be with you, and He keeps every one of His promises. Your circumstances will change, as will your emotional responses. But the one constant in your life on which you can depend? His faithfulness. “I will never leave you nor forsake you…Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:5,8 Lutheran Family Service  www.LutheranFamilyService.org

Building Healthy Families: Parents, grandparents and pew buddies! Martin Luther reportedly once said something to the effect of “When you wash your face, remember your baptism!” With warmer temperatures and (sometimes) more relaxed schedules, this time of year brings with it an increase in swimming, running through sprinklers and otherwise splashing about in various water sources. As you and your family are refreshed by such water play, take the opportunity to remind one another that you’re baptized and beloved children of God, washed in the waters of Holy Baptism, and “heirs having the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:5-7).
