Church Time - On Sunday, July 16^th we will be going back to 9:00 a.m. church.  Do not refer to the July calendar as that will say 8:00 a.m.  Pass the word on!!    Elders

 

Pastoral Care – When you are in need  of Pastoral Care you can contact Pastor Cowell at the church office 515-924-3388 or his cell 319-464-5548.  His email address is pastor@stjohnsburt.org. Pastor’s Office Hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. 

 

Quarterly Council Meeting will be held on today following the service. The Voter’s Meeting will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2017 following that service.

 

Vacation Bible School -

·          “Treasure Trek” is the theme for VBS to be held August 7-11^th  here at St. John’s from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Students 3yrs-6^th grade are invited to attend. To help with expenses we will be taking monetary donations.  You may get those donations to Brenda Schujter, Karla Schutter or place them in the offering plate marked VBS.

·         Vacation Bible School  -  August 7^th thru 11^th -  We are looking for any NICE old/used Christmas cards for a VBS craft we will be making.  Please get them to Brenda Schutjer or Karla Schutter no later than Sunday, July 23^rd.    We are also looking for volunteers for this year’s VBS.   There is a sign-up sheet on the north table.  If interested in a FUN filled week of activities, please sign up.  We would LOVE to have you join in on the FUN!   Any questions, contact Karla Schutter or Brenda Schutjer.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!

 

Meeting Cancelled - There will be No Preschool Board Meeting in July. 

 

Installation Service - The are invited to the installation service of Paul Schulz as Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mallard and Zion Lutheran Church, Ayrshire today, July 9^th at 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mallard. A meal will follow the service. 

 

Building Healthy Families -  LFS workers are busy in all parts of Iowa serving young women who are pregnant without the benefit of marriage and couples who are ready to grow their family through the gift of adoption. You can help in two important ways: 1) If you know of someone who might want to consider an adoption plan, tell them about LFS; and 2) If God has blessed you in such a way that you could help support this life-work which depends heavily on partnership gifts from members of our Lutheran church, please contact LFS today!       Lutheran Family Service

 

 

Birthday Wishes – Phyllis Hanna will be celebrating her 90^th Birthday on Thursday, July 13^th.  Cards can reach her at 504 8^th Street, Spirit Lake, Iowa 51360

 

Titonka Care Center Helpmates Annual Pie and Ice Cream Social will be held on Saturday, July 15^th from 5-7p.m. at the Buffalo Creek Activity Center (Titonka School). We will be serving Beefburgers, chips, pie and ice cream, coffee and cold drinks. Free Will Donation

 

Alzheimer’s and Related disorders Support Group will be held Thursday, July 13^th from 4-5 p.m.          at Van Buren Terrace, Algona.

 

Project Hope Items – The Kossuth Economic Development Summer Intern Program is asking for help with “Project Hope” This project is to provide hundreds of children, teens and adults removed from their homes with personal care items such as: shampoo, toothpaste/brushes, soap, deodorant etc. (Hotel soaps/lotions can also be given)  A bucket has been placed in the back of the church for you to place these items.  Items need to be in by next Sunday (July 16^th). Help Kossuth County kids/teens in need!!!  Cash donation can be left in church office or given to Deb Steven.
