Adult Bible Class For the next few weeks we will be studying our Synod’s Explanation of the Small Catechism published in 2017.  These are the 374 questions in the back of Luther’s Small Catechism which help us apply the six chief parts of the Catechism to issues of our current church and culture.

Lessons on the Liturgy – How do I prepare for [private or corporate] Confession?

Consider how the Ten Commandments act as a mirror, showing us where we have sinned in our various places in life.  How have you - as a husband, wife, mother, father, daughter, son, teacher, student, employer, employee, and so forth - failed to fear love, and trust in God and love your neighbor? - An Explanation of the Small Catechism (2017), p. 311

What is Operation Barnabas?  In Scripture, Barnabas is known as the “the encourager.” This is what Operation Barnabas strives to do by encouraging our military and their families.  Come to the sixth annual Iowa District West Operation Barnabas Conference on Saturday, October 6th, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Carroll Iowa to learn more on how you can be involved and “Called to Serve.”   This conference is to inform you on how you can care for the veterans in our congregation or community.  Join us as we work together to serve our military families. Registration information is in the church office.

Building Healthy Families: “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit . . . therefore honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Here’s another question: Do you not know that this Biblical instruction isn’t written just for young people? No matter your age, take time this week to do something that will make your body stronger or healthier. Fix a healthy snack, go for a walk, and invite a friend or neighbor to join you. Shared activity makes it more fun, and creates an open door for conversation about wellbeing, including the importance of faith, and spiritual wellness. Honor God with your body, no matter how many years it’s been around! Lutheran Family Service
