FOR US is our theme for Lent this year. “For Us” is not simply a pithy line to use because it’s easy to repeat. It’s a confession of who God is and what He brings in giving us His Son. It helps us understand why God would send His Son to die for us. This phrase also captures much of the Reformation’s theological emphasis—Luther went from searching for a righteous God and finding only stern rebuke to seeing God in the form of a little baby and as the one who became one of us for us so that we might become like Him.

Schedules for the Lenten Season are also on the back table with dates and times available for St. John’s and Trinity!!

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, We thank God for you and for all of the ways St. John’s has blessed our family for many decades. Today, we are especially thankful for the beautiful floral arrangement in celebration of Pastor Henry Friedrich’s eternal life in Christ. Thank you for the meaningful remembrance. You touched our hearts, and we are grateful.  Thank you for all of the ways you supported, encouraged, and cared for Mom and Dad throughout their lives and ministry. May our gracious God bless you as you continue to live and proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of all.  -Barb King, Brian, Mark, and Linda Friedrich, The Children of Rev. Henry W. Friedrich

Building Healthy Families: If it weren’t for the events of nearly 2000 years ago this week, it really wouldn’t matter what we do or say here at Lutheran Family Service. At best, all counseling would be a temporary fix. But thank God, it did happen and it does matter. During Holy Week we reflect with you on Jesus’s life, Passion, sacrifice, and death – but not without a sure, confident hope. As Easter People, we walk through this dark week with solemnity while preparing in our hearts to celebrate Christ’s triumphant resurrection from the dead. With you, we believe in God who raised Jesus. The reality of these historic events gives meaning and purpose to every one of our days. His redeeming love guides all our choices and relationships. LFS counselors who share your confident hope and faith are available to support you through whatever life circumstance or unresolved issue may be trying to steal your joy today. Call us – it’s why we’re here! Learn more at www.LutheranFamilyService.org Lutheran Family Service
