Flowers on the Altar today were given in celebration of Beverly Skadburg’s 94th birthday on November 30th by her family!

 

Adopted Family - It has been decided that this year we will be supporting Pastor Michael and Kelsi McGinley and the Family of Spencer. Their home and church sustained damage and loss in the July flooding. There is a list of the items that we will be collecting with donations of cash/gift cards now through December 22nd. on the back table. We also will collect items to replace in their Sunday School Dept at Christ the King’s Lutheran, Spencer.

 

Thanksgiving Service will be held at St. John’s on Wednesday evening November 27th at 6:00 p.m. If you cannot make this service Trinity will have their service on Thanksgiving Day at 9:00 a.m.

 

Poinsettias for Christmas - There is a sign-up sheet on the back table for you to donate poinsettias for Christmas. Deadline will be November 24th. Give your money to Vickie Madsen or the church office..

 

A Special Voter’s Meeting to Vote on the 2025 Budget and  Officers will be held on Sunday, December 8 following the service.

 

Midweek Advent Services will be held at Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on December 4, 11, and 18th.  

 

Advent Devotionals “His Name Shall be Called” are available on the back table. Feel free to pick one up!

 

Shut-in Plates - Volunteers needed to provide cookies/bars or goodies for the Shut-in plates that the Religion School Children will be assembling on Wed. December 18th.  Contact Kelly Fitzgerald if you are baking and would be able to provide a few extras goodies for the shut-ins in the church. We will also give to the care team and they need a few items in good condition: blankets, towels, and hand towels.

 

2025 Greeter and  Asst. Usher Lists are now on the back table. Please sign up to greet more than one time during the year. If you do not sign-up I will assign you a spot at the of the year unless you let me know differently.  Rosann Shipler, Sec.

 

Boxed Christmas Cards are available in the back.  Give your money to Rosann in the office. Individual Thanksgiving cards are in the rack too.

 

Christmas Donations - If you would like to give a cash donation to the Christmas Committee for the candy and decorations, you can do so by giving that to Vickie Madsen or mark an envelope and place it in the offering plate.

Reminder to pick up your Share the Blessing Letter and giving envelope that was placed in each bulletin box a few weeks ago.

Pastoral Schedule Update: Pastor Dose will be taking Fridays as his day off and will be spending Thursday mornings in Burt. Pastor Nelson will be taking Mondays as his day off and will be spending Tuesday mornings in Burt.  

 

SYNOD, DISTRICT & PARTNERSHIP NEWS

 

TLC Quilters - Don’t forget about the TLC Quilter’s “giving pew” by the east doors of St. John’s.  Feel free to take and give away as many quilts and bears as you’d like!  

 

Want to Help with Hurricane Relief? We’ll be collecting items to send to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Conover, NC. Priority needs include Bandaids, Neosporin, medical gloves, cotton gauze, Diva cups (feminine product), adult body wipes, infant wipes, hand wipes, WATERLESS shampoo, & liquid bath soap. Other items include winter hats, gloves, coats, & boots; quilts; water purification tablets; and portable water filters. Many will be without clean water until at least December.

·         Brochures are available on the back table  for you to purchase items. Bring them to the church and put them in a designated box. We will deliver them to Trinity who will get those to St. Peter’s Lutheran in North Carolina. Questions talk to Jade Nelson. 

 

Giving Tuesday matching funds for Camp Okoboji is Dec. 2 and 3rd.  More information on this is along the east wall racks.

 

COMMUNITY NEWS

 

Santa Day in Burt  will be held on December 7th from 1-3 p.m. at the Burt Activity Complex.  Come visit with Santa while enjoying cookies and hot chocolate.  Candy provided by Burt Lions and Cookies by Ann.  Fire Truck Rides by Burt Fire Department and Games by the Burt Bulletin publisher, Callie Monson.

 

Burt Library Holiday Open House - Wednesday, December 11th from 1-5 p.m. Stop in and enjoy some treats and refreshments and register for door prizes.  

 

Building Healthy Families: Reflect for a moment on your life over the past year. How have you seen God working? For what are you most thankful? As you become aware of His many blessings, ask yourself this one final question: how do you plan to show your gratitude? Challenge the members of your family to explore these same questions over the Thanksgiving holiday.
