Installation Services for Rev. Benjamin Dose will be held on Sunday, June 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity, Algona. A fellowship time and meal will be served following the installation.
Adult Class will be studying Exodus 5 on May 12.
Singers: There will be a choir for the Installation of Pastor Dose. If you would be willing to participate, please contact Pam Gogerty at 515-341-4700 or Kitty Bierstedt at 515-890-3242. Practices will be on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity starting this week..
Meal for Installation - We have been asked by Trinity’s Installation meal committee to help them with bringing salads and desserts. We will have the rest of the meal catered. Installation is at 3pm and the meal will be right after at 4pm, Sunday, June 9th. We put a sign-up sheet on the back table if you are able to help. Thank you! · It would be great if a few volunteers could help serve that day, too
VBS Fishing Derby - St. John’s VBS dates are being set for the summer. Our first event will be a Fishing Derby and will be held at Smith Lake Saturday afternoon on June 8 beginning with fishing from 2-4 p.m.; a lesson at 4:30 p.m. and from 5-5:30 p.m. supper will be provided. We will meet at Smith Lake southwest shelter house. Please sign by June 2nd if you are coming on the table in the back. Come meet Pastor Dose that day!!!
- VBS Swimming Fun Day will be held in July with the date TBD.
- Potluck and Fun Night of games etc. at the church for the whole congregation will be held on September 8th 5:30 p.m.
Midweek Classes last night will be Wednesday, May 8 and the last session of Sunday School and Adult Class will be Sunday, May 19.
Altar Flowers - If you would be willing to help out by donating flowers on the altar on a given Sunday in memory of someone, a special birthday or anniversary or any other occasion, please let Vickie Madsen know on the date.
Individual Confirmation & Graduation Cards are available in the church card rack now!
World Relief Special Offering - The monies we received during the Lenten offerings and also money from the craft items of Lavonne Boderius was a total of $583.00 and was designated to go to World Relief. The Sunday School children decided to purchase a lasting source of milk and eggs, 4 piglets, 5 units of (15) mosquito nets, 3 units of (16) quilts. Thanks to everyone for your help with this project.
Greeters - Copies of the yearly Greeters list is in the rack on the east wall in back. If you cannot Greet on that given Sunday, change with someone else and let the church office know who and when.

Hospitalized? If you or a loved one are hospitalized and would like a pastoral visit, please let us know! Pastors are not automatically notified when members are hospitalized.
SYNOD, DISTRICT & PARTNERSHIP NEWS
TLC Quilters - Don’t forget about the TLC Quilter’s “giving pew” by the east doors of St. John’s. Feel free to take and give away as many quilts and bears as you’d like!
· Old Tattered Quilts Needed! Well-loved quilts can be repurposed into prayer hearts to provide comfort for others.
· Old Denim Jeans? We are in need of old denim jeans (any color & any condition) to make into quilts. Bring them to the church office or stop by the basement on Tuesdays or Thursdays to see them in action!
· Flat Sheets are needed by the TLC Quilters.
· Volunteers - Anyone who would like to help on Tuesday and Thursdays the TLC Quilters would love for you to come. We have several things we can put you to work on. Contact the church office at 515-295-3518 or Barb Bitterman (515-341-1936) to get more information on what we do.
On Trinity's Blog you can find various materials from our partnership pastors including the weekly radio program "Lift High the Cross," Lift High the Cross has transitioned into a walk through one of the readings that is not being preached on Sunday. Camp Okoboji Quilt Auction will be Saturday, June 1! Craft Show and Lunch at 11 a.m., view the quilts online at www.campokoboji.org or on site Friday, May 31 from 5-7 p.m. or Saturday from 9:00 a.m. Auction starts at 12:30 p.m.
IOWAY can use your help! As many of you know, the Minden, Iowa, area (just east of Council Bluffs/Omaha) has significant damage after the storms and tornadoes on Friday, April 26. There are several ways to reach out and assist.
· Prayers for Minden, its surrounding area, the people at St. John Lutheran, Honey Creek who are the base LCMS support congregation in the area, and anyone impacted by the storms.
· Financially – currently, the surrounding communities have been overwhelmingly gracious with tangible items (food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, clothing, etc). The current financial need is to help people in this moment and in rebuilding their lives. Please send any financial donations in care of IOWAY to Iowa District West (checks preferred if possible, memo line Minden 2024).
