The new Children’s Altar Dedication is being held today during the service.  This altar is a gift to St. John’s in loving memory of Alfred Schadendorf from Peggy and family.  Special thanks to Vern Koestler who built the altar. Please be sure to go to the Sunday School/Preschool area in the basement to see it.

 

Call Process - St. John’s and Trinity Congregations voted to extend a call to Pastor Benjamin Dose to be our Partnership Senior Pastor. Please pray for Pastor Dose as he deliberates where God would have him serve.   If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Schutjer.

        

Adult Class - Book of Exodus - Join us in the church basement at 8:15am for a new Bible Study series on the book of Exodus. Journey with the Israelites and see how God's great signs and wonders point to our Christian life in this world. We will be looking at a different chapter of Exodus each week when Pastor Nelson is teaching.   Next Adult Class - Sunday, Apr. 14)

     

Birthday Card Shower is being held for Don Reimer’s 90th Birthday on Monday, April 15th.  Birthday wishes can reach him at Don Reimers, PO Box 182, Burt, Iowa 50522.

 

Thank You to all children and parents who came and participated in our Annual Easter Egg Hunt. A huge thank you  to  those who helped Pastor Briton and Jade with the event and to those who so graciously furnished bars for the day.  This was a wonderful Outreach to the Burt Community and was attended by many.  Also, let's not forget to thank the ladies of the coloring club at the Burt Library for filling all those many Easter Eggs!!

 

Special Thanks to all who furnished flowers for our Easter service.  If you wish to enjoy them at home, please feel free to take them with you after the service.  -Vickie Madsen

 

Greeters - Copies of the yearly Greeters list is in the rack on the east wall in back.  If you cannot Greet on that given Sunday, change with someone else and let the church office know who and when.

 

Quarterly Council Meeting will be held next Sunday, April 14 following the service.  The Voter’s Meeting will be held on Sunday, April 21.

 

Crafts for Sale - You may purchase several of Lavonne’s crafts in the church library. Please give your money to the church office.  The items are marked.  Monies for these items will go to purchasing more animals for Lutheran World Relief. This will be the last Sunday to purchase these items.

On Trinity's Blog you can find various materials from our partnership pastors including the weekly radio program "Lift High the Cross," Lift High the Cross has transitioned into a walk through one of the readings that is not being preached on Sunday. TLC Quilters - Don’t forget about the TLC Quilter’s “giving pew” by the east doors of St. John’s.  Feel free to take and give away as many quilts and bears as you’d like!  

·         Old Tattered Quilts Needed! Well-loved quilts can be repurposed into prayer hearts to provide comfort for others. 

·         Old Denim Jeans? We are in need of old denim jeans (any color & any condition) to make into quilts. Bring them to the church office or stop by the basement on Tuesdays or Thursdays to see them in action!    

·          Flat Sheets are needed by the TLC Quilters.

Building Healthy Families - Husbands, listen up! Did you know that 90% of effective communication is listening, not talking? When your wife is talking to you, stop what you are doing, turn toward her, and look at her face. Communicate the message that you are interested in and care about what she is saying. COMMUNITY NEWS

Burt Lions Club French Toast Breakfast will be held today, April 7 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm at the Burt Activity Complex. The Burt Women’s  Club will be holding a Bake Sale at the same time.

Benefit for Jessica Reutzel (26) will be held on Sunday, April 14 from 12:00 pm-3:00 pm in the old gym of the Burt Complex. Jessica was diagnosed with aggressive  breast cancer in January. There will be a free will meal donation from 12 noon until the food is gone, a  silent auction and bake sale from 12-2:00 p.m. and a live auction at 1:00 p.m.
