Pastor Chats - I will continue to post my available times on the back table for the week ahead for a visit with me.  I will continue to post times until I am able to visit every family.

THANK YOU to Pastor Cowell who was there for us when Doug passed away.  For Rosann who typed the service, the ladies who helped serve the meal and clean up, the men in the church who helped usher, move the funeral guests where they needed to be and take down tables after the service.  All these little things were very much appreciated.  Finally, a big thank you for all those who sent cards, flowers, food and their many prayers and well wishes our way when time seemed to just stand still.   When death happens so suddenly and unexpected we realize that we have no control over anything and that we should always be prepared in our life.   We wish God’s blessings on all!!          Reimers Family

Devotional – “This Week in the Church Year“ devotional resource sheets are available on the back table for you to pick up.

Thrivent Action Card - Kids of the Kingdom is looking for anyone who is a Thrivent member and would like to donate an Action Card to the preschool.  The Action Cards are in place of the matching funds we used to get and we have been using the cards to purchase ingredients for our soup dinner and bake sales.  We have been very successful with these fund raisers and they have enabled us to continue to provide a Christian preschool here at St. John’s.  Please contact Allison Christensen and she can give you the information how you can apply.  It does take some time to process and our next bake sale is in March.  Thank you for your continued support.

Lessons on the Liturgy:   Epiphany

Epiphany is a Greek word that means “shed light upon” or “manifest” or “make visible.”  Epiphany is celebrated on January 6th (or the nearest Sunday).  On this day we celebrate when Jesus manifested himself to the Gentiles by way of the magi.  During the season of Epiphany we remember various other ways in which Jesus revealed himself to the world, such as at his Baptism, at the wedding at Cana when he changed water into wine, and at the mount of Transfiguration.

Annual Report Articles I need  Annual Report Articles so I can begin working on the 2017 Annual Report. You can email them to me at churchoffice@stjohnsburt.org.  Also, changes in addresses, phone numbers etc. get those to me also.  Rosann

Church Cancellation:   St John's will be initiating a call-em-all service that will call everyone on the list if we have a cancellation of Church services due to weather or schedule changes in the church service due to the vacancy.   This system can also be used for Church reminders of special events or upcoming meetings.   The phone number listed in the Annual Report for 2016 were the numbers used.  If you would like your cell phone number used instead of your home phone, please let the church office know.   With this system we hope to get everyone informed in a timely manner in case the radio does not announce it soon enough.  Church Council
