Thank You!   Dear Members of St. John’s Lutheran, I would like to thank you for your prayers, cards, and calls that you made these past few weeks as I have been recovering from double knee surgery.  Your love and support has been overwhelming.  Truly as a family of God you have walked along aside me and others as together we have proclaimed the Good News of Jesus Christ.  May God bless each of you as you take up His Work in your lives.   Pastor Reimers

Lessons on the Liturgy:   Advent

“Advent” is a Latin word that means “coming.”  During Advent we prepare to celebrate the past coming of our Lord into human flesh and the future coming of Jesus on the Last Day, even as we prepare for Jesus to come to us in the present at the Lord’s Supper.  Thus the season of Advent is not only a time of preparation for Christmas, but it is a time to prepare our hearts for all the ways in which Christ has come, comes, and will come to be our Savior.

Christmas Harmony – The Cornbelt Barbershop Chorus will hold its annual Christmas Concert with the United Methodist Chancel Choir today  at 2 p.m. at the Algona United Methodist Church. The proceeds will be going to help support the Algona Ambulance Service.  Come and enjoy beautiful Christmas songs in harmony and help support our local ambulance service with a free will offering
