Save the Date! On Sunday, September 7 at 5 p.m. we will be holding a Congregational Fellowship Evening as a get together for all members of St. John’s. This will be a Potluck Supper with games followed by a closing short worship service. This will give us an opportunity to spend time together with each other for a fun evening!!
As Sunday School preparations continue for next year, we find we’ll be needing a few more Teachers. If interested or you have questions, reach out to Karla Schutter.

SYNOD, DISTRICT & PARTNERSHIP NEWS
NNew IDW Administration Assistant:
Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Emilie Jenson. I am the newest member of the Iowa District West office staff.Sue Light’s 46 years is a lot of experience and knowledge to be following in the footsteps, but it is my goal to make the administrative assistant transition as seamless as possible with very little change. I had an excellent trainer in Sue this past week and she will be missed! If you would like to send Sue well wishes on her retirement you may mail them to her at 1010 Park St. P.O. Box 365 Gowrie, IA 50543; or e-mail Suemlight@hotmail.com
· Going forward, all e-mail correspondence that would have gone to Sue will be sent to emilie@iowadistrictwest.org
CCamp Okoboji News
· Sunday Worship Services are held each Sunday at Camp Okoboji. A List of Chaplin Pastors serving each week is posted on the ramp bulletin board.
Trinity - Summer Worship Schedule: During the summer months there will only be one Sunday service at 9:00 a.m. The Saturday service will continue at 5:00 p.m. except for holiday or wedding weekends.
Building Healthy Families:Much of today’s media reflects values that we wouldn’t want our family to see or use as a model for life, but there are notable exceptions! Why not plan a weekly movie night with your family or friend group, intentionally choosing films that are both entertaining and faith-affirming? Here’s an idea to get you started: “Where Hope Grows” (streaming on many online platforms) tells the story of Calvin, a former baseball player who struggles with addiction and loss who befriends Produce, a young man with Down Syndrome who works at the grocery story. God uses their relationship to help Calvin rediscover hope and faith. Among the unwholesome story lines out there are some that shine light and challenge us to change our opinions in helpful ways…like remembering the value of people born with Down Syndrome! Pledge to Pray for Our Troops - On the back table are cards for you to pick up and pray each day Psalm 91 for all Our troops and Our Nation. This is a chance to pray with other Christians as we Band together to remember those who are serving. Take a couple and pass them on to others

Stewardship Corner: Giving Faithfully:
Our faithful giving honors and glorify the Lord. The act of giving is discussed extensively in both the Old and New Testaments; both the poor and rich, both young and old gave. We are not to give out of duty or for recognition. Rather, faith in and love for God motivates us to give and to give generously. God’s grace empowers us to be faithful with our lives and resources. God’s love and generosity are seen through our giving.
