A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 27th at 7 p.m. at Trinity for families dealing with infancy or pregnancy loss. October is National Pregnancy and Infancy Loss Month. We come together to remember and offer comfort and hope during this unthinkable loss. All are welcome even if this loss happened many years ago. Come join us and receive support from God’s Word.

IDW News -

October 16, 2025

Statement to IDW pastors and congregational leaders regarding the resignation of Pastor Jonathan Riggert.:

Trinity Cherokee pastor and Iowa District West First Vice President Jonathan Riggert has resigned from the clergy roster of the LCMS due to cause, namely adultery. We pray for healing for family, the Trinity congregation, and Jonathan. We pray for Iowa District West people, pastors and officers. Pastor Benjamin Dose replaces Riggert as First Vice President of the district and Pastor Chadric Dietrich has been appointed (and BOD approved) as Second Vice President. Pastor Merritt Demski will serve the vacancy at Trinity Lutheran, Cherokee.

       These changes are effective immediately.

New Member Class is being offered by our Partnership for anyone interested in becoming a member of Trinity or St. John’s as well as those who just want to brush up on the basics of their faith! Class will be held Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm, through December 23. Let Pastor Dose or Pastor Nelson know if you wish to attend.

Pledge to Pray for Our Troops - On the back table are cards for you to pick up and pray each day Psalm 91 for all Our troops and Our Nation.  This is a chance to pray with other Christians as we Band together to remember those who are serving. 

TLC Quilters Invite you to join them in the basement to help with their many projects on Tuesdays & Thursdays, anytime from 8 a.m.– 3 p.m.. No experience needed - just a willing heart!

 

Women’s Bible Study at Trinity is held on Mondays at 7 & 9:30 a.m. We’ll study ELIZABETH, DEALING WITH DISAPPOINTMENT, part of the Women of the Bible study series. We have all been disappointed! The question is, how do we deal with disappointment with grace and how do we continue to trust the Lord when our longings remain unfulfilled? Please contact Jane (320-0490) or Cheryl (320-1288)

COMMUNITY NEWS

Halloween Party will be held at the Burt Complex from 5-7 p.m. with Tables of Trick and Treat, a Halloween Carnival and a Light Lunch will be served by the churches of Burt. St. John’s lunch contact is Jessie Parsons if you wish to help.

• Note: Burt Halloween Trick or Treat night will be that same night from 5:30-7 p.m.

25th Annual Fall Harvest Dinner will be held at the Lone Rock Presbyterian Church on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Serving 10:30-12:30 p.m. Catering the Tradition Turkey meal with desserts. Take-outs available. Free will donation.

 

Lakota Ambulance Annual Soup Dinner Sunday, November 2nd 10-1:00 p.m. at Fire Station.  Free Will Donation.
