“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Stewardship Corner -The first words of the Bible are “In the beginning God…” That is how everything begins—with God. God created all things, and He gives us all things. All of life is a gift from God. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17). We are the recipients of all of God’s gifts and blessings, and we are stewards of everything He entrusts to us. Receiving lies at the heart of what it means to be human. We are needy beings: dependent on God for our existence and all the good gifts of creation, and dependent on one another for community, relationship, sustenance, and so much more. We are needy. God created us that way. We receive, and then we can give. If we reject our dependence upon God, we are putting ourselves in God’s place.
