NO Adult Class - Due to Pastor Nelson and Jade delivering the Flood Victims items to North Carolina this week, there will be NO Adult Bible Class today, March 16. Pastor Dose will leave immediately following the service today to do the 10:30 a.m. service at Trinity.

 

All the Wednesday Lenten Services will be held here at St. John’s at 6:00 p.m.  Midweek Students and Parents are encouraged to attend and Class will begin after at 6:30 p.m.

Pictorial Directory: It was decided and voted on last Sunday to go ahead with the Picture Directory.  Our dates are set now for June 17-18 from 2-8:30  p.m. both dates.  If you cannot make this you are welcome to set appointments at Trinity June 11-14, 2025 and have them taken there. A committee will be appointed to help with this process here at Burt.

 

THE HAND OF THE LORD is our theme for Lent this year. Hands are used to heal, mend, build, teach, comfort, and so much more. Yet, as humans, our hands are sinful and unclean. Christ’s hands are the ones that can transform our sinful and dirtied hands into beautiful, clean ones to carry out His plans. Spend this Lent exploring God’s Word to see how His hands are used in both the New and Old Testaments, from creation to crucifixion and eternal life. 

 

Daily “The Hand of the Lord” Devotions for Lent and Easter are now available on the back table. 

 

April-June Portals of Prayer Devotionals are now available along the east wall!

 

2024 Annual Report is now available along the east wall.  Please, take one copy per family!!

 

The Lenten Schedule is now on the table in the back.

 

Adult Bible Class will begin a Lenten study  “The Hand of the Lord” to go along with our Lenten Series today at 8:15 a.m. Come  join us!!

Adverse Weather - When church is to be cancelled due to snow etc, the Elders and Pastors will make the decision and then a Flocknote Cancellation call will be sent out to your cell phone or home phone.  We will also try to put it on the Algona Radio.

 

Hospitalized?  If you or a loved one are hospitalized and would like a pastoral visit, please let us know!

 

2024 Thrivent Choice Dollars must be directed by March 31. Consider joining others who have directed their Dollars towards St. John’s ministry.

TLC Quilters - Don’t forget about the TLC Quilter’s “giving pew” by the east doors of St. John’s.  Feel free to take and give away as many quilts and bears as you’d like! 

A New Member Class is being offered by our Partnership for anyone interested in becoming a member of St. John’s or Trinity as well as those who just want to brush up on the basics of their faith! Class is being held Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. (Monday this week). Contact the church office or a pastor to sign up. It’s not too late to join us!

Save the Date - Immanuel Lutheran Lotts Creek Church will be celebrating their 150th Anniversary on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Service will start at 10:30 a.m. with a meal to follow. Please save the date and spread the word!!

 

TLC Quilters invite you to join them in the basement on Tuesdays & Thursdays, anytime from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. to help tie quilts for Timothy Swaddling Clothes. Consider giving your time during Lent to help us with this special project! No experience needed - just a willing heart!

COMMUNITY NEWS

The Burt Fire Department will be hosting BINGO on Friday, March 21 with doors to open at 5:30 p.m. and BINGO to begin at 6:30 p.m. The Burt Women’s Club will be hosting the meal!. 

Hospice of the Heartland will be hosting a Spring Session of its Grief Support Group beginning in March. The group will meet on Wednesdays beginning March 19 through Wednesday, April 23 from 2-3 p.m. in the Community Health Conference Room KRHC. Questions call 515-295-4430
