Congregational Special Voter’s Meeting will be held today following the service. This meeting is to decide if we wish to do a Picture Directory in June.  We are doing this in conjunction with Trinity but separate dates. 

 

Funeral Services for Don Reimers will be held Monday February 3, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. here at St. John’s. Visitation  will be 4-6:00 p.m. also at St. John's Lutheran Church.

 

Brr it’s cold outside! Today is the day to join us for a Congregational Soup Dinner in the basement of the church immediately following Sunday services! Enjoy an extra helping of warm fellowship while filling up with a warm bowl of soup. 

 

After the soup dinner, join us for WINTER VBS FAMILY GAME DAY at the Burt Activity Complex.  We will have games and fun for the entire family.  Come visit and enjoy spending time with other families during the cold weather. We hope to see you all there!!   -St. John’s Board of Education 

 

Thank You St.  John’s, Happy New Year! I hope the church is having a great 2025 so far! Thank you for all your support for me and my family during this season of seminary. I am currently taking a “Winterim” intensive 2 week course on pastoral leadership, but at the end of January the spring semester will start in earnest. I’m also happy to tell you that my wife Grace is expecting our third child, a baby boy in April! Blessings to every at St. John’s! In Christ, Justin Hilton, Grace, Epiphany and Ira

Greeting from Christ the King Lutheran Church in Spencer: We wish to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks for the generous outpouring of Christian charity you extended to Christ the King Lutheran Church in the wake of extensive flooding that took place here at the end of June. It is with great joy to be able to announce that on Sunday December 15 we started worshiping in our building for the first time since the flood.There is no word to express how deeply loved we are by your well wishes, prayers, kindness and monetary gifts you provided. Lutheran Witness renewal for the new subscription year is coming due soon. If you received it and wish to continue getting it, the price for this year's subscription is 28.25 (includes the District News). If you wish to cancel, please let the church office know so you can be taken off the list.

Adverse Weather - When church is to be cancelled due to snow etc, the Elders and Pastors will make the decision and then a Flocknote Cancellation call will be sent out to your cell phone or home phone.  We will also try to put it on the Algona Radio.

 

2024 Thrivent Choice Dollars must be directed by March 31. Consider joining others who have directed their Dollars towards St. John’s ministry.

SYNOD, DISTRICT & PARTNERSHIP NEWS

 

Want to Help with Hurricane Relief? We’ll be collecting items to send to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Conover, NC. Priority needs include Bandaids, Neosporin, medical gloves, cotton gauze, Diva cups (feminine product), adult body wipes, infant wipes, hand wipes, WATERLESS shampoo, & liquid bath soap. Other items include winter hats, gloves, coats, & boots; quilts; water purification tablets; and portable water filters. Many will be without clean water until at least December.  Contact: Jade Nelson

 

A New Member Class is being offered by our Partnership for anyone interested in becoming a member of St. John’s or Trinity as well as those who just want to brush up on the basics of their faith! Class will be held Tuesday evenings beginning January 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity. Contact the church office or one of the Pastors if you wish to attend. 

 

TLC Quilters - Don’t forget about the TLC Quilter’s “giving pew” by the east doors of St. John’s.  Feel free to take and give away as many quilts and bears as you’d like!  New quilts on display on the east entry pew!
