Building Healthy Families: Who’s your favorite NFL team and coach? (…bonus points if you answered Andy Reid and the Chiefs!) Researcher George Barna rightly notes that great parents are much like great coaches as they demonstrate these four qualities when relating to their “winning team”: 1) the impact of a great coach (parent) on his player (child) is proportional to the depth of the relationship fostered with them; 2) great coaches (parents) whole-heartedly embrace the outcomes they are pushing their team (children) to achieve; 3) great coaches (parents) are great communicators; and 4) great coaches (parents) have a comprehensive plan for building a winning team (family). So, coach, how are you and your team doing?? Lutheran Family Service  www.LutheranFamilyService.org

Stewardship Corner - When we use our time in service to others, we are using our time wisely and giving God glory.  “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve…” (Mark 10:45).  It is clear that Jesus wants to develop that same servant heart in us.  Our lives are God’s gift to us.  How we use them is our gift to God.  When we commit our lives and time to service in response to Jesus’ love for us, we are living wisely and fulfilling an important purpose for our lives.  Service should be one of the primary uses of our time.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can change from being people who seek to serve ourselves into people who serve others.
