A Special Congregational Meeting will be held with District President Steven Turner and Circuit Counselor, Rev. Church Carpets will be cleaned Tuesday, August 9th.   We ask that you avoid using the church on that day and it would be best if we had a minimum amount of traffic during the rest of that week to give it time to dry. Thanks!  Trustees

DISCOVER CAMPaign OKOBOJI  is a fundraiser to help maintain quality facilities and programs at Camp Okoboji. We are in the middle of stage 1 Campaign to update the Crafts building with a state of the art activity center that will provide experimental and interactive opportunities for campers and guest.  Stage 2  of the building will provide well-equipped and comfortable housing for summer camp staff as well a retreat for medium sized groups.  We are getting very close to our goal but have a Matching gift challenge of $250,000 and have nearly $90,000 of that raised but still need more to reach this goal to receive this gift.  This is where you can help by your gifts to  meet this challenge.  We will break ground on September 3rd for the first phase of the project.   Information and donation envelopes are on the table in the back.  You may put those envelopes  in the collection plate with your gift and at the end of the 4 weeks we will send your donations to camp.  Help us make this vision a reality!    Thanks!   Doug Kading, Camp Okoboji Director

Parish Messenger Articles for September/October Edition is due to Linda Kerkove on August 21st.

Building Healthy Families     What are the best memories you have from your childhood? Best-selling author and psychologist Mary Pipher from Lincoln, Nebraska says there are three things that we usually remember with great happiness from our childhood -- time spent outdoors, vacations and family meals. In the midst of these long summer days, be sure to relax with your children outdoors with unplanned time together. Take some time off work… you don’t even have to leave home to vacation.  Lutheran Family Services

Stewardship Corner - On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the absolute best, how would you rate what you are doing as a steward?   On God’s grading scale, we all rate a zero without Him.  Fortunately, God knows that we are not perfect.  In spite of our imperfections and frailties, God wants to use us as His hands and feet to feed the hungry, house the homeless, build His Church, and seek the lost with His Gospel.  God has made us His stewards, and He equips us for the task.  The Apostle Paul wrote, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).  The good news for us is that, in Christ, our “0” becomes a “10.”
