ST. JOHN’S NEWS
A Joint Call Meeting was held last Sunday with members of Trinity and St. John’s for the purpose of calling a senior pastor. Discussion was held and the vote was taken with Pastor Thackery receiving 85% of the votes cast.
Dedication of New Windows and Flag Poles
· New windows will be dedicated in the church service this morning. Memorial money from Eugene (Bucky) and Lorraine Drager memorials was used along with donations from the church members. These windows will beautify our church for many years to come.
· A dedication will also be for the 2 flag poles located east of the church at the entrance of the centennial rock sitting area that were given in memory of Merlin (Red) Madsen. The 2 flags flying are a reminder to the family that Red served his country and his Lord, The poles were purchased and installed by the Noon Kiwanis group from Algona. This is a two-fold memorial as the donation received for this project is used to help children in our area with projects like providing bicycle helmets, dictionaries for 3rd graders in local school districts, fishing derby, youth events at the YMCA and much more.
Thank You! “I was taken back last Sunday by your generosity, both from the congregation and the Sunday school children. It is a real blessing to serve God’s people as a pastor. The members of St. John’s make that service a pure joy. Thank you for your gifts, they touched my heart. I hope my time is short so you can bless your next pastor. God is so good. Blessings!!” Pastor Dave Simonson

Building Healthy Families Building Healthy Families: Despite living with physical, emotional and financial challenges and through social and political upheaval which often separated them by many miles and at times threatened life itself, Martin & Katie Luther created and sustained a marriage and family life characterized by faithfulness, mutual respect, teamwork and a good degree of humor. As we remember and give thanks for the great reformer and the blessing that his life and work have been to the church, we also give thanks for God’s work in their lives which provides us with an example of Christian family life today. May the lives and marriage of Martin and Katie and their love for their children remind us of Christ's love for his church and of the Father's love for us, His redeemed children.
