Thank You!  Vicar Nathan Wille sends his thanks to St. John's for our generous financial support of his seminary education through our scholarship program.  Vicar Wille is about halfway through his vicarage year at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, IA.  He is also a skilled organist and played organ for the opening service of the High School Weekend retreat at College Hill Lutheran in Cedar Falls that Pastor Cowell and several students attended last weekend.  We at St. John's should be proud of our efforts to support the training of new pastors to serve Christ's Church.

Lessons on the Liturgy  - Preparing for Worship

It’s a good idea to prepare yourself to receive God’s Divine Service with prayer, either before you arrive at church or as you sit in the pew a few minutes before the service begins.  You can pray using your own words or use this prayer found in the inside cover of the hymnal:

“O Lord, my creator, redeemer, and comforter, as I come to worship You in spirit and

in truth, I humbly pray that You would open my heart to the preaching of Your Word

so that I may repent of my sins, believe in Jesus Christ as my only Savior, and grow in

grace and holiness.  Hear me for the sake of His name. Amen.”
