SUNDAY SCHOOL TIME - In the months since we began our partnership with Zion, LuVerne, it has been brought to our attention that a small adjustment is necessary to the Sunday morning schedule. In order to achieve more consistent starting and ending times for the Sunday School classes, the published time for beginning Sunday School is being changed to 9:45a.m. For families in attendance at the service, this will mean only a small procedural change on Communion Sundays. For those students who miss church, but still attend Sunday School, this means they should arrive at 9:45 a.m. beginning on Sunday, February 5. Pastor
THANK YOU to everyone who gave cards and gifts for our family during this Christmas Season. It has been a blessing to celebrate another Christmas here with you at St. John's, and we truly appreciate the way that, through your own gifts to us, you have demonstrated God's generosity in sending His Son to be the Savior of the World. CENTENNIAL ADDRESSES – We are now in need of help from our members of getting addresses for former relatives or members who have moved away from our area for the Centennial Mailing List. Some of you have been given a form in your bulletin box with names on them of people we feel you can get addresses, emails (emails will save us postage) and phone numbers for us. Would you please look them up and return them to the church office by February 1st. The addresses may be relatives, friends or people you were in contact with over the years. We appreciate all the help in getting these. Thanks for your help!

BANNER – The Centennial Parament Banner that was made by Linda Peter from St. John’s used paraments is on the back table. Linda has donated it to St. John’s for a Silent Auction Fundraiser for the 2013 Centennial Celebration. One section of the Banner will be up for auction each month until all eleven sections are sold. The donations will be used to help cover celebration expenses. When the sale is complete the banner will remain on display at the church. The highest bidders name will be placed on the back of the section they purchased. Let the bidding begin!!!
LUTHERAN WITNESS - The yearly subscription for the Lutheran Witness will be due March 1. The cost this year is $21.65. Please pay for that in the church office. If you have a subscription and wish to cancel, have an address change or wish to get a new subscription, please contact me in the church office. Rosann Shipler, Sec.
BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES Have you done something special for your spouse lately to show them you care? A note of appreciation, a back rub, or preparing a favorite meal are simple ways to let your spouse know just how much they mean to you. If you haven’t done something recently take time out of your schedule this week to do something nice for them. Lutheran Family Service of Iowa
BREAKFAST BRUNCH – Lone Rock American Legion will have a Breakfast Brunch on Sunday, February 5th with serving from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Serving: scrambled eggs, French toast, sausage, orange juice & coffee. Free will donation.
FAMILY ICE FISHING RETREAT will be held at Camp Okoboji on February 10-12, 2012. Cost : Adults $80 and Children: (9 and under) $65. This includes food and lodging. Fishing begins at 1:00 p.m. on Friday and continues all weekend. A fun weekend for the whole family. Come join us!!
