LWML LADIES will be hosting coffee/cookies following the council meeting this morning in recognition of all the work the Lutheran Women Missionary League does. Please, stay and have coffee and fellowship!
SOUP LUNCHEON - Kids of the Kingdom Preschool, St. John's Lutheran in Burt, will be having their annual soup luncheon fundraiser on October 16th from 11a.m. to 1p.m. in the church basement. We invite everyone to join us to help support the preschool in providing a Christian environment for the students early education years.

CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION FUND – St. John’s Centennial Committee has received a Paul Hasse Memorial and a Thrivent donation to be given to the Centennial Celebration in 2013. A separate fund has been opened at the bank to handle receipts and expenses for the Centennial Celebration. Donations to this account can be given by marking a separate envelope St. John’s Centennial and place it in the offering plate, leave it in the office or give it to Committee President, Lynn Bierstedt.
THANK YOU – A donation of $500 has been given to the Centennial Celebration Fund by St. John’s Thrivent Committee. Thanks to all members of Thrivent who designate their choice dollars to St. John’s.

OUTREACH EVENT – This Outreach Resource and Training Event is an excellent opportunity for you to hear an exciting keynote speaker, participate in your choice of interesting break-out sessions, connect with ministries from across the district at the Ministry Fair, and a chance to participate in an easy hands-on community service event. Best of all +Grounded + Growing + Reaching+ is for the whole family! Special programming is included for children and teens ages 0-18. Rev. Bob Newton, President of the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of the LCMS will serve as keynote speaker for the event and lead two group discussions. This event is being held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Registration and the Ministry Fair will begin at 9:00 a.m. with speakers and sessions to start at 10:00 a.m. Activities will conclude at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Peterson is heading up the event and will be leading a break-out session. If you wish to know more about this event feel free to talk to him. Cost: $15 per individual or $30 per family. Registration is due by Tuesday November 1st.

Lutheran Family Service, through its Christ-centered counseling services, seeks to help people understand the difficulties in their life through the eyes of faith. POTATO BAKE – On Friday, October 14, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. a Potato Bake will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church Life Center. The cost per person will be $7.00 and you can get your advanced tickets at Trinity, Diamonds or Mary Hannover at Good Samaritan Home. This is sponsored by the Auxiliary and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and proceeds will go for Automatic Door Openers.
